A massive redevelopment project on the outskirts of George Mason University has moved passed the first stage of rezoning approval with the Fairfax County Board of Superviors on June 4th. Located at the corner of Ox Road (123/236) and University Drive the 10.8 acre site which currently maintains residents of the Fairfax County Housing Authority will be redeveloped into a mixed-used complex comprised of 600 units, 240 being set aside as 'affordable' with the remaining 360 units to be comprised of student housing. GMU recently announced that it would need to add more than 1,000 units per year to keep up with Demand for the growing suburban campus which lies next to the City of Fairfax. The next meeting for the project will come in July.
